The Construction Skills is holding three open days in Barnsley, Doncaster and Scarborough in June. The open days will give you a chance to have a taste of the construction industry to see if it is your career of choice. The day will include hands on taster sessions, construction career guidance, a tour of the Construction Skills Village and a chance to sign up for September 2017!

Barnsley Construction Skills Village held an open event on Wednesday 5th April 2017.

Over twenty attendees had the chance to learn all about the Construction Industry on a ‘real’ site environment. The event enabled attendees to get a taste of the industry and to see if it was a career path they would like to pursue.

Fortunately, the sun was shining on the day and spirits were high with attendees getting the chance to:

Experience a site safety induction

Experience hands on taster sessions in Bricklaying, Joinery, and Groundworks.

Wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Hard hat, high vis, safety boots, goggles and gloves.

Speak to CITB and Go Construct for construction career guidance

Tour of the Construction Skills Village and discuss its current and future course provision

Overall, the day was a success with a number of applicants applying to join Barnsley Construction Skills Village in September 2017.
